About Us
Dr. Naomi Nhiwatiwa - Director and Founder
Dr. Nhiwatiwa is a humanitarian, a Diplomat, and a seasoned international civil servant. She has traveled all over the world. She served on many UN committees, and International Organizations. She holds a PhD Intercultural and Diplomatic Communications 1979, Masters Degree in Counseling, 1972 both from the University of New York at Buffalo. In addition she holds a Masters Degree in Human Growth and Development from Wayne State University in Michigan.
From 1980 - 1988 she was an elected Member of Parliament and Minister of State for the Zimbabwe Government. In 1988 she joined United Nation's Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) as the Senior External Relations Officer for ESARO, in Nairobi, Kenya. She was then promoted to World Health Organization as Director External Relations and Program Promotion - Africa Region in 1993 in Brazzaville, Congo. In 1998 she was again promoted to the position of Senior Advisor to the United Nations in New York, USA. Since retiring from the United Nations in 2001, she has worked as a Consultant HIV/AIDS, and as a Visiting Professor for the Department of Communications at Pepperdine University in California.
Dr. Nhiwatiwa’s life objective is to contribute to the over all well being of people. Her life philosophy is Christ centered. The AIDS situation has been a heavy burden to her. She has seen a lot of suffering and death in her missions as a senior UN officer, including that of her own family members. She has seen first hand the agonies of death and dying and at times, with the implied guilt associated with it. Those experiences are still fresh in her mind.
“I have to do something about it however humble it may be. If everybody does something it will surely make the difference,” she says.
She has helped many families; she has taken in AIDS Orphans in her own home. One of them is now in medical school. Her children who embraced the orphans as members of the family; and friends who contributed a lot to support the orphans, have been a source of encouragement to bring to life this organization. “So it can be done,” she says, “I have proof.”
“Your support to this Non profit Organization will make a difference in the lives of many families and in the world, and the heritage we are leaving for them.”
